Here is what you need to know:

How do primaries work in Virginia?

A primary election is an election in which registered voters select a candidate that they believe should be a political party's candidate for elected office to run in the general election. They are also used to choose convention delegates and party leaders.

Primaries are state-level and local-level elections that take place prior to a general election. Virginia utilizes an open primary process in which registered voters do not have to be members of a party to vote in that party's primary.

Why it matters: Virginia has yet to agree on a path toward a legal recreational marijuana market, but the change will allow widespread sales of hemp-based products that produce the same intoxicating high.

Wavy News - Youngkin signs bill expanding healthcare coverage for small businesses. Governor Youngkin signed SB 195 and HB 884. He said the bill will help small businesses to “attract and retain talented workforce, while providing workers and their families greater options for health care.”
